O. Well, in that case, I would say they probably thought if he made it to shore and they took him into the jungle, the Seals would have a helluva time tracking him down and getting to him before he was tortured or whatever. In this case, they could surround the enemy vessel, outnumber the men with arms, and essentially engage on their own terms. At least, that would be my thinking. I would do everything I could to keep the pirates from getting the US Citizen into a place the pirates know well and are comfortable in. That would result in potentially more bloodletting and the invasion of another sovereign's soil, whether covertly or overtly, which obviously has serious risks.
