Ya dude, there have been for awhile. You may not have been following but for big fights they have been doing CRAZY amounts of testing. Someone else that knows all of the details can tell you more but its like $40,000 per fight just for testing and I believe they test everyone on the main card.

I can see giving the guy a chance to defend, and he did cover himself immediately. It was also so odd that it probably took a moment to register. It honestly didn't look like that big of a shot.
As soon as his defense started to open up, the ref called it. He really didn't take any more real damage after he hit the mat. I think it was a good call.
