Honestly, the defense at times has been a product of the ineptitude of the offense. I'd like to see our defensive stats in games where our offense has more than two 3-and-outs in the first half. Based off of my crude memory of the season it seemed like a lot of our worst losses came at the hand of teams that jumped on us early, were able to run the ball, and shut down our offense in the first half of the game.

I'd bet playing the Saints this year has been a game-planners wet dream. The only teams we beat tried to win by going to the air and could not run the ball. Give Brees enough cracks at the egg and he'll eventually figure it out.

As far as Ryan, I think he's still a good DC. But if you look at our personnel our team is still stuck in the river between 3-4 and 4-3. We need a true #1/2 corner opposite of Lewis for the Ryan system to work. We need an edge rusher, yet again. Moneybags Blabbermouth Galette just ain't getting it done on his own. Now we have a contract large enough to match his mouth. Finally, we need some friggin linebackers to play a proper 3-4. Not sure why people are calling for Ryan's head when a team doesn't give him the personnel to be able to make a system work that he was brought here to create.
