It's all disgusting, really. When you blame rhetoric, propaganda, and even religion for acts of evil, you dehumanize the offender. When a person does an evil thing, he does it not because of rhetoric, propaganda, or religion, but because he is an a-hole who needs to be put down. Some people suck. They do shitty things. It is dishonest to blame the rhetoric/propaganda/religion, and not the offender himself, for the offense.
