Extending protection to transgenders under Title VII of the 1964 legislation.
From Breitbart

Clearly the Civil Rights Act was intended to prevent employers from discriminating against people with clinically recognized mental disorders.
Bravo Eric, bravo.
From Breitbart
quote:
This important shift will ensure that the protections of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 are extended to those who suffer discrimination based on gender identity, including transgender status,” Holder said in the announcement. “This will help to foster fair and consistent treatment for all claimants. And it reaffirms the Justice Department’s commitment to protecting the civil rights of all Americans
From psychologytoday.com website
quote:
Gender identity disorder (GID) or transsexualism is defined by strong, persistent feelings of identification with the opposite gender and discomfort with one's own assigned sex. People with GID desire to live as members of the opposite sex and often dress and use mannerisms associated with the other gender. For instance, a person identified as a boy may feel and act like a girl. This is distinct from homosexuality in that homosexuals nearly always identify with their apparent sex or gender.

pretty sure we should all agree on that. Martin Luther King, Jr. would never approve of this

I don't think he marched for women's rights either, but you know what I mean.

Well this is a mental disorder so there's that. They are basically just acknowledging this without saying it.

I mean, I'm cool with the gays, lesbians, and bisexuals in LGB but in no fricking way do I believe the T or in other words, transgenders, are good for this country and they should never be accepted or promoted as normal.
Transgenders should have full rights like everybody else but they shouldn't be granted specific rights and it should be discouraged as much as possible by the state in order to prevent transgenderism taking a hold in pop culture.

clinically recognized mental disorders.
If it doesn't cause the person significant distress or functional impairment, then they actualy don't have a mental disorder.

So, they have a mental disorder is what you're saying.

Bruce Jenner approves of this.

No. Just no.
If it doesn't cause distress, it may be considered "in remission," but it is certainly still a mental disorder.

In adolescents and adults, the disturbance is manifested by symptoms such as a stated desire to be the other sex, frequent passing as the other sex, desire to live or be treated as the other sex, or the conviction that he or she has the typical feelings and reactions of the other sex. Persistent discomfort with his or her sex or sense of inappropriateness in the gender role of that sex.
quote:
In adolescents and adults, the disturbance is manifested by symptoms such as preoccupation with getting rid of primary and secondary sex characteristics (e.g., request for hormones, surgery, or other procedures to physically alter sexual characteristics to simulate the other sex) or belief that he or she was born the wrong sex.
quote:
The disturbance causes clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning.

Post-transition, i.e., the individual has transitioned to full-time living in the desired gender (with or without legalization of gender change) and has undergone (or is undergoing) at least one cross-sex medical procedure or treatment regimen, namely, regular cross-sex hormone treatment or gender reassignment surgery confirming the desired gender (e.g., penectomy, vaginoplasty in a natal male, mastectomy, phalloplasty in a natal female).
If sawing off your cock and balls and replacing them with a vagina is a recurring fantasy, you are significantly distressed.

No. Just no.
Causing distress and/or functional impairment is an essential component of the diagnostic criteria of gender dysphoria. Period. Someone can be transgender, and if they are totally happy, feel as if they are living a great life and have no issues functioning at all they don't have a mental disorder. Peruse DSM-V is you don't believe me.

Its not just "distress", but "distress to the individual" aka its a subjective term that isn't based on a clinician's judgment as to what should or shouldn't cause one distress.

So you're saying you've met mentally well-adjusted transgenders? Or just that they exist hypothetically?

Well I haven't significantly interacted with any transgenders either way. Just saying being transgender in and of itself is not a mental disorder.
