Me and two buddies are heading up there tomorrow and going to try and kill some birds. Going in sort of blind, so any input and pointers would be great. We are interested in learning more ab it and tomorrow will be the maiden journey.
If anyone would rather touch base on email, mine is dabrassett at geemail dot com.
Muchos gracias mi amigos

What part of Lacassine? Are you hunting in a boat or pit blind? You want to know about the birds or where to party?

Post doesn't tell us much. You have a lease? Guided hunt? Etc
South of Laccassine? How far? Near 90?
I hunt south of Welsh, near the Lacassine refuge. Just tryin to grasp what your situation is.

I used to fish and hunt Laccassine Refuge. Probably could have been a guide since I knew that refuge very well. But it has been a loooong time ago...I am talking about the late 1960s through the 1970s.
For fishing or hunting, we would use a launch near Holmwood that I don't think exists anymore. For duck hunting, we would motor a long way down the ditch along side the refuge, cross the Intracoastal Canal, cross Lake Misere, and then down a pipeline canal.
Previous poster was right....we did not hunt out of the boat. We stashed the boat off the pipeline canal and walked in. And it was tough walking but I was a lot younger then. Once I stepped into an alligator hole with water up to my neck.
We always did pretty well there. Back then the season was only 30 days and a point system was used to determine the limit. You did not want to kill a mallard hen....they were 90 points. 100 points is all you could kill.
There were not very many hunters using Laccassine back then. It was like we had the place to ourselves.
