But the point this student was making is that Germany is just as race obsessed as the U.S. if not more so. We're just not living in other countries where we can see it.

The OP is about race, not religion. When it comes to religious tolerance, the U.S. is one of the world leaders, but there are very few nations that can match America's history for institutionalized, state-sanctioned racism.

There's no such law banning the use of the word n****r. That's about societal norms, not law.
