I'm pretty sure Germany rarely grants citizenship to immigrants (like their Turkish population).

Correct. And things are getting worse there with Muslim immigrants.

But the point this student was making is that Germany is just as race obsessed as the U.S. if not more so. We're just not living in other countries where we can see it.

Example...in the U.S. it is not allowed to use the 'n' word. All countries have racial slurs for different ethnic groups. The funniest I've heard is White South Africans referring to Black South Africans as 'AFI's. AFI = Antique Farm Implement.
