When there are more vacant spaces than occupied, is it time to shutdown? How is this place viable?

Aren't there only soul fashions, nails, and check cashing places in there now?

Place like that must have a high fixed cost. As long as there's enough cash flow to pay the light and water bill, they're probably better off than if they boarded it up.

Didn't some out of state company have plans to buy it and renovate it?

The anchor stores still draw from Central, Baker, and Zachary, Asians from Sherwood, and Black people.

Went about 4 years ago at Christmas. Place was packed. Was bumped into by a patron who told me I was in the wrong part of town. I've considered bitching about it to People magazine, but the OT 4 years later will suffice.

I remember me and some buddies in high school would spend a whole Saturday in Cortana just walking around, eating, and hitting on chicks back in the early 90s. Those were some good times.

Cortana is the equivalent of what Bon Marche turned into shortly before its demise. Used to love me some Mama Brava and buying games at Babbages

In the '80s Cortana had a bakery that sold fresh bread by the slice. Delicious... Anybody remember that place?

That Dillard's is an inventory clearance store. It's my favorite store.

I had to go in there last week.

I and my two family members were the only white people that I saw in there during the more than an hour in there.

Everytime I read one of these threads and compare to my memories, I feel sadly that Baton Rouge has become Pottersville.
