Being at the very, very beginning of the millennial generation, there are a few reasons for that.

1) Some people are just lazy, especially the ones raised by hippy parents.

2) Boomers aren't retiring. Trust me on this. I see it in my field all the time. They didn't save for decades, spent all they had, and now they are in their mid to late 60s with very little money saved. Some may have a basic pension, but when companies moved away from pensions 20 years ago, they never compensated for that by saving more money.

3) College costs are insane. One reason for that is boomers not wanting to pay taxes, so, college funding gets cut, which means tuition has to rise to make up the difference.

4) Boomers shipped overseas a lot of the good middle class jobs that didn't require a high education. Why? Evil unions. Those same evil unions that many of the boomers started off in, before they worked their way to management.
