I have been to Punta Cana 8 times a bunch. Other than a few sailing excursions, I usually just stay on the resort and relax.. The excursions are pretty "touristy". There is some fishing there and January may be one of the better times for it. Since I fish for a living, I usually dont go fishing on vacation.

There is a "island" trip that is pretty good. They sail you up the coast a few hours on a catamaran then stop for snorkeling. You end up on an island for lunch then sail back down. Not a bad trip. Plenty to eat and drink and the scenery is nice. I will see if I can dig up the name of it.

Where are you staying?

ETA: This is it. Its not a bad trip. There are some kids at times though. We typically stay at adult only resorts so I hate being around the kids on the excursions

I went there two years ago. Did snorkel/scuba, swim with dolphins (which I thought would suck but was awesome), 4 wheeling, zip line, and booze cruise. None were bad.
