I think alot of people are hiding behind the stats and not looking at the big picture on Hickey.
First and foremost, I liked Anthony Hickey. He was a good person and I wish him nothing but the absolute best. There is no denying that Anthony Hickey struggled to guard some larger players. I wouldn't consider him a great defender. Just like Mickey isn't a very good on ball defender but he can block some shots when guys come around him, Hickey could get in passing lanes and steal the ball very well, but he was a one trick pony.
Offensively, I love a PG that doesn't turn the ball over, but he also didn't make very much happen. He had 0 ability to get into the lane so he was never able to get a defense out of position and force rotation. That is a key to Jones offensive style.
He has never been a good shooter from 2, 3 or FT line. That is just the facts. Sure his So year he made some big shots at the buzzer, but he missed those same shots last year. That is the difference between us being a tournament team last year and an NIT team. I don't blame him, but I think his "clutchness" is over emphasized.
At the end of the day, Hickey was a great Tiger and I hope he becomes a great Okie Lite player.

Happy for him, always liked him as a player and a kid, but he would drive me up the wall sometimes with his late game decision making + shot making (or lack there of).
For whatever reason, it was clear he didn't mesh well with Johnny. I feel like our offense needed a new cast of characters and a new identity, and for the most part I like the way things have worked out for us. And he's not exactly lighting the world on fire in Stillwater, we're talking about 9 PPG, 3.7 APG and awful free throw shooting from a smallish point guard here.
Anyway, it would be nice if Okie St can make the tourney so he can get a taste of the dance before his career is out. They're 8-1 with a win over Memphis but a bad 75-49 loss to South Carolina on their ledger.
