I'd rather the offense score points than focus on TOP.

And the 2007 offense was the best in school history. It carried that team to a NC after the defense collapsed midway in the year.

Correct. However that collapse was largely due to injuries. That defense needed a MASH unit by season's end but gutted out the game against UT and showed what a healthy unit could do against OSU. As for the offense, let's not pretend they weren't wonderfully talented. 7 or 8 of the offensive starters for LSU in the title game played in the NFL, not to mention others who came off of the bench. The '06 offense was actually more talented overall, just handcuffed early in the year by ultra conservative playcalling.
