I have friends that live in New Orleans. Honestly it's a rather dangerous place for anyone, regardless of sexual orientation (NOLA has one of the highest crime rates in the country). All of my friends that work at the bars in NOLA carry mace/tasers for the walk back to their car the end of their shift. I've visited NOLA many times and I enjoy driving down from BR for a night on Bourbon Street but I absolutely would not want to live there.
