Laptop losing wifi connection

I have an HP Pavillion, Win 7 purchased back in Feb 2014. For the last 6-7 months it has been disconnecting from my home wifi. The only way I can reconnect is to restart the router, then it automatically reconnects. Once it sleeps or is idle for a while, it disconnects again. I have another old HP, a macbook, two ipads and two iphones and none of these devices have this problem.
The wireless router is AT&T furnished and says netgear on it.
In the tray at the bottom of my Pavillion screen, I see the network icon (bars) with a yellow spash and it says Not Connected. My wifi is listed there with a red X. When I click on it, the message is "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network"
Can anyone give me advice or tips? Sorry I am not good at hardware and network setup stuff..

Laptops may go into sleep or hibernate and turn off wifi card therefore losing connection. This can be turned off through power settings.

I already tried changing that setting so the wifi would not turn off when the laptop hibernates.

This happened to my HP laptop after the monthly Microsoft security patches in September. I reloaded the wifi drivers and everything is back to normal.

Same issue here with my HP. I have to run the "troubleshooter" and it actually works. I will try to download the drivers as recommended here.

How/where do I find the correct wifi drivers to download?

This happens to me also, but when I go to reconnect my laptop to my Wi-Fi, my network doesn't show up. I have to restart my router and it reconnects. it's as if my wifi network disappears. Is someone or something knocking it off line ?
