Schiano is a great college coach, not so good NFL coach. Nobody cared about Rutgers football ten years ago.

Meh. I'd pump the brakes on great. He did do a very good job building up Rutgers football, but let's get some perspective. They had one great year (11-2 in 2006) in a pretty ordinary Big East. Then they kept winning (7 to 9 win seasons, with one 4 win dud), but he never got them over the next hump to greatness. They never placed higher than 2nd in a bad conference.

Again, he's good. I just don't think there is anything in his record that says great. Maybe he would be better in a bigger job with more money and easier access to recruits. However, he was at Rutgers for 4 years before having a winning season. He was obviously comfortable there, they gave him time, and finally got them turned around. However, he obviously wasn't too cozy in the NFL. Can he handle a job that comes with big time pressure and expectations?
