I am sure Quinn will get better with time. You don't set a record like he did against the kind of competition he played against by sitting on your arse. I think all of you selling now will be jumping back on the bandwagon in a year or two.
What I saw was impressive to me for a true freshman, considering where our passing game was this year. If you know football, then you know this kid runs sharp routes. The 2pt conversion play he had over the middle early in the season was a great example. This is a very under appreciated skill, but will go along way toward making a receiver a reliable target. There is a reason that NFL scouts talk a lot about route running.
The other thing that stood out to me was his blocking. He isn't a big guy, but you can tell he plays smart, and does a really good job. Most of you should recognize how important this is in our offense. He also must have some toughness about him as well, considering that he took a few hard shots over the middle this year. The one at AU was brutal.
So, don't be stupid. Message board like the Rant lean toward hyperbolic commentary one way or the other. Everyone either sucks, or is the best player to suit up in Purple and Gold. Everybody just settle down and give the kid a chance to show what he can do.
