I've heard about the trouble with Onkyo before but this is the first I'm hearing about dumping Audyssey. What a stupid move! My Onkyo is a couple years old and I've never had a problem. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Yeah, the folks on the AVSforum think this was the most illogical move they could have made. It was presumably a cost saving measure but when all of your competition can handle it and you're the outlier, there's probably going to be people jumping off your bandwagon. This coupled with the recent quality control issues and I'd say Onkyo suddenly has major problems on their hands when just a couple of years ago they seemed to be one of the best companies around that appealed to the average consumer and mid-high end as well.
And for the record I have a Sony ES receiver that I've been waiting to crap out for many years now and it simply hasn't. I bought it in 2000 and it has worked flawlessly. But at this point I need HDMI support and I would like to utilize the TrueHD and DTS-MA tracks on Bluray discs, among other things. I would like to upgrade my power output as well as my speakers can handle 6x the amount that my Sony can put out.

I was looking online over the weekend at some new ones and I was noticing most dont have this feature and was wondering this myself. Its one of the main reasons I was looking at another Onkyo.
