Excused? I gave a reason for why he thought this cop was going to blow his brains out.

This board has a hard time differentiating between excuses and reasons.

Oakland PD also has a notoriously bad reputation within that community as well. Which is all their fault.

So you're good with preconceived notions and internal prejudices?

I mean, that's fine if you are. Just be honest with yourself.

Oakland is one of the most violent places in the US and it's the cops fault?

When will violence, crime and drugs determined to be part of the problem with the way law enforcement polices a particular area.

Do you think if officers weren't in fear of their lives every time they make a stop they would still behave the same way?

Officers need to improve and the community needs to improve. Neither happens without the other happening.

Who in their right mind would want to be a cop these days (in certain towns/cities).

Being nervous in the moment is reasonable.

Lying about the situation after the fact when the officer had acted extremely professional and presumably would have destroyed those preconceived notions he entered into the situation with is not reasonable.

You are clearly an educated black man. Yet you are unable to escape the racism narrative and instead justify this action by playing the historical race card yourself.

If the majority of educated black men see situations like this similar to the way you do, we're fricked.

Well then - perhaps we should just withdraw all cops from the Oakland 'community' and let them work thing out amongst themselves.

If I were a cop, I'd refuse to go to a 'community' who had the notion that I was there to kill them. Let em rape, loot, burn, murder - shite, that is what they want to do because after all there was slavery and kkk stuff that gives them that right forever and ever.

Did I get this right?

I would not want to be a police officer in the Oakland area of Alameda County and doubt if you would either. Without question some cops have exasberated the problem between the police force and certain groups. However, to say its all the cops fault leaves no room for the reasonable discourse that brings about solutions.

You cannot have a starting point the completely villainizes one side and exonerates the other.
