Counterfeits reduce the value of the real thing. I cannot trust the singing talent of anyone who came to prominence in the post-Auto Tune world. There were always tricks, double tracking, extra takes, vocal effects, special rooms, etc., to bring someone up to speed for a record. They could always pantomime live, but that was tougher back in the day without the sophisticated computerized equipment they have today. Ironically, as talent has actually collapsed - they fake it on the recording (with Auto-tune) and often lip synch it "live" - not even bothering with trying to sing live, even with auto tune assistance.

So, I don't care if it was American Idol, or some other Karaoke event, Carrie Underwood may be able to "sing her arse off" - but it is impossible to judge with all the tools available and proven counterfeits in the market.

So you're choosing to ignore the live performance I posted and instead are chalking up how great she sounds to "not being able to be trusted because autotune and because lip syncing technology is better now"? And that since those things exist now, that means that there aren't any talented people anymore?

You're either a complete idiot, or you're trolling. And something tells me it's a little bit of both.

This is ridiculous. She didn't have any of those tools on Idol, and she sounded amazing back then.

She didn't have those tools when she sang live at Superfest, and her voice was amazing then.

You sound like peej talking about how no one from this generation of athletes could possibly be the GOAT since they are young.
