Probably depends on the cemetary in regards to the tree. Most have regulations about what you can even place on TOP of the grave (fake or real flowers, their vases or your own containers), so I doubt they'd let you plant a tree.
You might be able to put both of your cremated remains together in one plot, but I usually YOU can't simply bury the ashes there, the cemetary or funeral home would have to do that (for a fee, of course--death is a huge racket). I think there's all sorts of weird rules about how to properly handle cremains.
Sucks going through this, so I hope your question is just in general. If not, sorry for your loss.
