A few years ago, the Raiders finished 6-0 in the division and didn't sniff the playoffs.
So beating all your divisional rivals (like it is everything in CFB) isn't a big deal in getting to the playoffs in the NFL. It's a just one giant circle of parity league.
NFL divisions are one of the big reasons the NFL is so great. It creates and maintains rivalries. Saints-Atlanta games have a different feel to them just like Bears-Packers, Redskins-Cowboys, Ravens-Steelers, etc.
