well my explanation was pretty basic and simple. I'm sure the Sox have much more complex and accurate internal calculations.
But I don't think they are paying him an extra $5 million a year because he was lucky enough to be on a team that made the postseason three times and hit well over 150 or so career PA at-bats.

He would not be the first nor will he be the last guy to capitalize off of postseason success. I think you're giving the Sox FO too much credit.
And just like that, Kyle Seager, who is a year younger, gets 7/100. Seager is a better player (especially if you're using WAR) yet he is going to make ~$6m less per year than Sandoval
