OK, so we passed on Johnny Football and Dak Prescott...our coaches did not want them as QBs.
Then, Russell Shepard...

Shepard was considered the top quarterback of the high school class of 2009 by both Rivals.com[2] and Scout.com[3] before converting to wide receiver upon arriving at LSU.

..how much confidence do we have in our coaches judgement of QBs.

NO but its a lot harder to go grab a good QB from Texas away from the Texas schools, or grab one from California away from the Cali schools.

when maybe 5 QBs in the top 30 turn out to have actually decent careers per year, and 2-3 of them are from California, you can't expect to get one that can come in and start as a sophomore or freshmen.

Alabama has had QB success because they haven't played anyone younger than a RS Sophomore since John Parker Wilson under Shula
