It's crazy that OT is part of that computation because you kind of pick up the benefit of that on the front end with that whole time and a half thing.

Agreed. If one is going to pay (potentially) actual millions to a single retired police officer, I better be getting someone top notch while he's still on the job.

unfortunately cops seem to be more of a liability to the government than an asset, they are a walking lawsuit, and IMO the quals for becoming a cop are so minimal that the comp and pension is ridiculous(acknowledging that some upper echelon cops brought in as upper mgmt. have a little more on their resumes)
