Need to know alot more info. I will always recommend a tube amp. Is this for bedroom jamming/recording with the possibility to be on stage or bedroom only? Is is for the stage only? Predominantly a blues amp where you need big glassy cleans? Need a two channel OD/Clean amp?
Orange Tiny Terror 12" combo- 15 watts
Classic Rock tones into high gain territory with a boost - pretty versatile and ALOTTTT of quality tone for the money. Can get decent clean tones with low gain/high volume rolled back guitar knob. There's a reason these little beasts have the reputation they do. Giggable at 15 watts if mic'ed up properly but will struggle in a rock setting. Perfect for slow blues trio in a small bar.
Tiny Terror Combo on Ebay - $500
Marshall DSL5C- 10" combo - 5 watts
Fantastic Overdriven rock sounds. Fantastic at home recording amp and has a 1 watt power switch in the back for bedroom practicing. I own one of these and I use it more than my Boogie Mini Rec. Not that it sounds better (the Boogie smokes it) but it's a very good amp all things considered.
Fender Blues Junior III- 12" 15 watt
SRV tones in an affordable package. Ive owned two of these and they are great at what they do. Glassy cleans with nice deep reverb. It has two volume knobs for preamp/poweramp so it can get some really tasty classic rock overdriven tones and smokes with a boost pedal in the front end. Great amp for the money.
Fender Pro Junior - 10" 15 watt
Same as above except only has two knobs and no reverb. Tone knob and volume. It breaks up alot faster and gets into classic rock crunch at about 6 on volume. Great basic amp that can cover alot of tones with the right pedals.
Randall DC5C Diavlo- 10" 5 watt
Same setup as Marshall DSL5C but with a more metal flavor. Nails high gain in metal tones.
If you want higher wattage gigging amps then thats an entirely different market.

Definitely need the possibility to be on stage. We're hoping to play our first gig before the end of the year.
I like to have the option of a good hard rock "crunch" (think Zeppelin, The Who, ect) but I also want the flexibility to be able to play smooth and clean. An added included pedal channel-shifter would be a nice plus.
