Your arms shouldn't break 90 degrees in the lowered position. If you have a really big chest the bar could touch because of body shape. I have a decent sized chest for my body size and the bar doesn't touch my chest doing bench. My friend is a bigger guy and the bar touches his chest when he does bench.

Seems like I would still be about a foot away from my chest(about the length from your elbow to your hand)
