So what do you propose?

if the students with poor entry scores are passing their boards and are graduating, what is the problem then?

Medical school admissions involve sit down interviews as well, so they also look for well rounded students as well

The problem is that American medical schools have limited space and are turning away white or Asian students with better scores and superior academic performance to make space for those poor performing students.

3.5 and a 29 MCAT are very good stats.

Not for Asian and white applicants, according to the charts posted.

theoretically, you could have a more stringent licensing exam if you had higher quality students

that's just a theoretical argument

i will say this, it's a major problem in the law field. and when i say "problem" i mean southern's passage rate is abysmal

also, there is an "upscale" problem with minorities that leaves decent/average schools like LSU in a bind. LSU almost had accredidation issues b/c it didn't have enough minority applicants, and it had to SERIOUSLY lower its standards to get some southern law-quality applicants solely to increase minority student numbers

and they were set up to fail. some failed out and others were only saved by secret "minority only" study sessions with professors. not only is this just patently immoral on its face, it sets these kids up for failure when they take the bar (which lessons LSU's stats, which means they can't go up the rankings and will have to settle for the same students, creating a perpetual issue)

that scenario is wrong. if you have mediocre admission stats and upscale your school, i don't have a major issue as long as you are treated the exact same as the remainder of the student population. if you are given even more help along the way, i think it's bullshite
