The man is either the worst QB talent evaluator on the planet or, he can't figure out how to develop them worth shite. Either way, that is STILL on him.
I think he still lives in a world where a QB has and needs three years to learn a system.

That is not the case, QBs just pick up and leave. That is why the spreads work, it allows a more plug and play approach at QB. Pro style is highly QB reliant. Malzahn could find 10 QBs tomorrow and have them ready to move the ball in less than a year. Of course this is a bad week to prop up Gus.

People are in love with the spread but, the reality is, there have been plenty of very good offenses that are not spread, even in recent years.

Typically, those coaches have a batch of what might be referred to as "safe" calls for relatively new QBs. A good example would be passes like the one that SHOULD have worked vs Bama in overtime on 1st Down. For years, we've seemed allergic to this approach.

Even in Lee's 1st year, after he had demonstrated that he could pass, but also was erratic enough to be error prone, we seemed insistent upon throwing what would be considered higher risk stuff.

Now, we've gone the OPPOSITE way. Now, we're just scared shitless to throw at all.
