I mean, hey, I'm not always a fan of Miles' conservatism, but this year, let's face it, play calling is a function of how bad his QB is. Now, that doesn't mean I'm giving Miles a pass. In fact, that crap is STILL his fault.

I'm merely observing that when your QB has MULTIPLE overthrows in sideline short pass patterns, you quickly realize that letting that same guy throw over the middle is a recipe for disaster.

There is much to wonder WTF regarding Miles and QBs but frankly, I think what we are calling with AJ at QB is the least of the problems.

That Miles has somehow REPEATEDLY found himself in the position of being scared shitless of his QB is the problem.

Playcalling doesn't help, but anyone who can't see that we have a major execution problem is a dolt. It's why I can't understand the pass that Cam and the offensive position coaches get. They put a shitty product on the field.

The QB can't throw? Okay. That doesn't mean to line up in a 2-TE, FB, HB, 1WR set and try and run it up the middle against a 10-man box every play.

Spread it out. Run some zone-read out of the shotgun or the pistol with 3 or 4 WRs.

ADAPT.

that is accurate.

the criticism on miles shouldn't be on a conservative offense set to limit mistakes of his QB's, it should be his recruiting or lack thereof of quality QB's.

he's been stung in the past RP, zach lee, kiel etc but it's definitely a weak point.

it shouldnt be a surprise (though most can't seem to grasp bc of disdain for miles) that the O actually does open up when it has a competent QB (flynn, JR, Mett)

Miles seems to recruit Spread Qb's for a pro-style offense. Thats on miles. The prostyle guys miles has had : flynn, russell and Mett seemed to do well but he seems to not recruit these types of guys.

Who recruits and coaches these inept quarterbacks? Why is it, at a school LSU, we have a hard time getting decent/consistent quarter back play.

Yes, the play-calling has to be limited based on what Jennings can't do. But we aren't tailoring it to what he CAN do. He can use his legs to get out of the pocket and make some decent throws on the run. I was glad to at least see a couple designed runs for him, but they were so predictable and unimaginative.

The whole scheme was simply atrocious Saturday and it's been a long time coming that we'd flat-out lay an egg like that. I guess I just wanted to keep the faith all long, but we've all been staring it in the face all year.

I get the feeling that Miles and Cam are both as surprised and disappointed in the QB situation as the fans are. He admitted in his post-game presser that we have to get better on offense. You could hear the disgust in his voice. I think they have been expecting Jennings to turn a corner, and (apparently) it's not going to happen. What is even more discouraging to me is the lack of faith they seem to have in Harris too.

You are wrong, playing calling is the problem! When the average fan knows what play you are going to run prior to the snap, how difficult do you think it is for defenses and defensive coordinators to read? Exactly, not difficult at all.

Now the root of the problem is poor QB play which forces us to call plays everyone knows what is about to be run, but the problem is the play calling. Fix the root of the problem and hopefully that fixes the problem, but the problem is still play calling.
