He's using the "thumbs forward" grip. It is used by everyone from LEO, military, and professional shooters. Wrists are supposed to be locked forward, but the recoil of that firearm will still jump your wrists around. Let me guess you are a fan of the O-dog grip from Menace to Society.
Thumbs Forward

i haven't read the thread but i'm a big fan of gimple as the showrunner.
i wouldn't say last night was action packed but the last two episodes imo had great character development. daryl and carol are both pretty sympathetic characters and the writers and/or gimple do a great job at conveying things as simply and effectively as possible.
in epi one with the reunion of rick and carol and carol being asked to be let back in the group and rick asking her if she'd have them was pretty powerful.
and last night in one sentence carol summed up daryl when he asked her how he'd changed "u used to be a boy, now you're a man" i'm paraphrasing bc i don't remember the quote exactly she might've said kid instead of boy.
but in that one sentence she encapsulated his journey thus far.
i didn't post after last week's episode but the connection of eugene and gabriel as cowards and the secrets they both tried to keep. had to keep.
when asked (once again paraphrasing) about what he was thinking about before his secret let out "...i'm thinking about that preacher..."
but it was that cowardice coupled with quick thinking from eugene that gave abraham a mission and a reason to live instead of eating a bullet.
great use of flashbacks so far without relying on them or spending too much time on them. they've given you exactly what you needed.
there's always gonna be shite to pick apart: in just one scene i.e. "carol getting hit by probably the only moving vehicle in the ATL area and then a bum legged everybody hates chris being able to hold daryl back/convince him not to go after carol.
but even that can be explained/reasoned with from the bginning of the episode i.e. daryl's prudence following the white cross vehicle and thinking about the big picture even when carol suggests "running them off the road"
the past two seasons have really made up for the farm season and parts of season 3. this season could overtake S1 for me when it's over and i'd put S4 3rd. we'll see.

My point was he is holding the gun at forehead level and looking over to the side somewhere while shooting.
