first of all, this was presumably a very huge event at the time (for Adnan) and being talked about every single day. there is not some six week leap where they just ask about an insignificant event all of a sudden. every day is a constant reminder and callback to the memory. every single day.

even if it took him a day or two of Hae not turning up to realize, "holy shite, that call with the cops and that entire day was huge" he hasnt forgotten yet. that memory thing is horse shite.

in fact, that's actually why i think he has some degree of involvement. he doesnt remember and always tried to forget ON PURPOSE because the memory puts him in a bad place at a bad time.
