MalwareBytes is my goto to.
Even the free version is solid.
After years of using it for free and watching it develop from a shareware, yet still powerful, tool, I decided to buy a 1 year sub to the premium service this year.
I've never regretted having it and at times have regretted NOT having it.
I work in IT, so I constantly get the "Hey man, I've got a computer problem, can you fix it for me?" phone calls and texts from friends and family. Before I lay a finger on their machine, I tell them to download and run malwarebytes and more often than not, that alone can solve their problems.
