I'm sure the Lakers need to take business advice from an American soccer coach. I know the hate runs deep for Bryant. But people are not seeing this from a business perspective. He generates money for the team. People buy his merchandise, tickets to watch him and he moves the media needle by generating outside publicity. He has literally made that franchise hundreds of millions of dollars. You can not quantify his worth through a NBA contract. He is worth so much more to the team. If he played in baseball (where contracts were closer geared to revenue) he would be getting paid somewhere closer to 50M. Guys like Lebron James or Durant would be making 100M. It's short sided and unfair for people to ask him to take a pay cut just because he is an older player.
