Adding all religious holidays would be equal.

Removing all religious holidays is also equal.

Keeping some religious holidays but not others is not equal. So they are now "closer to equality".

Yes, but at the point of pissing off the other people whose holidays are now not recognized? That is more than understandable to me. As long as animosity is the indirect action of a direct action then I don't see how this is considered an "equality" thing.

A better argument is I don't f'ing care about equality. Cultural equality is not a virtue.
