I'd rather have someone capable of making the throws and controlling the game at QB.

People seem to think that recruiting a "pro-style" QB automatically means he can make the throws, read the defense and control the game.

These QB recruits are basically a crapshoot. Yeah scouting services, etc, can usually tell you which ones are likelier going to be better, but getting a guy that can make all the throws, move the ball, etc. is not as easy as just getting a "pro-style" qb.

100% correct. Again, JJ was pro-style. Many of the highest-rated passeers at the college level over the past several years have been dual threat.

And to the fact that recruiting QBs truly is a crap-shoot, take two recruits from the 2008 class. One was rated by rivals as the #4 pro-style QB, one was rated #8. Both four-stars, one 6.0, the other 5.8. One's name is Andrew Luck, the other's is Jordan Jefferson.
