I think I have finally realized why so many reviews of The Newsroom insist on disliking it so much. Basically, just about every TV review is written by people whose jobs consist of being "cool" on the internet where snark rules. The reason why I enjoy its idealism is because my job consists of me being stressed about many decisions that will definitely impact the amount of money my clients will spend and could also impact the lives of their pets. I enjoy getting to kick back and listen to great dialogue spoken by talented actors that work incredibly well off each other. I don't have to care about how unrealistic it is. I have plenty of real in my own life.

And quite frankly, I agree that modern journalism has been almost completely destroyed by the internet even though it should have been enhanced by it via the addition of speed and many more viewpoints. Instead everyone just decided that posting "a" story first was good enough and no one really bothers to understand any story, so all those additional viewpoints go to waste. We go to the source that most closely resembles our own thoughts and no one ever ends up trying to collect and collate the greater data to put out an actual story. It is just on to the next news cycle and endless trivial criminal stories.

Just watched. Thought it was a great episode and laid out all the plot lines for the season.

-ACN "getting out of the tree"
-The half siblings trying to steal the company
-Neal committing espionage and how to keep him from going to jail but still be able to have ACN report the story - very Wikileaks/Julian Asange/Edward Snowden

I don't mind Sorkin's politics - I'm pretty liberal - and ever since "The West Wing", I'm a sucker for anything Sorkin does.

Hell, I'm one of like 17 people who actually enjoyed "Studio 60".

Very sad to hear we only get 6 episodes.

Oh, and I liked Maggie doing well as an on the ground producer and then kicking arse when she had to go live on camera.

I could keep listing everything I loved (Sloan & Don <3) but I'll just say I loved it all.

Can't wait to see Leona (Jane Fonda) eat her step-kids alive.
