Last years team should have no bearing on the discussion in my opinion.

Using your logic of sample size, let's go back over the last 10 years. Let's open up that sample size as to decrease chance statistics boy. What conference has consistently dominated the others including National Champiomships? How much credit do you give MSU for rising to the top in the toughest division?

How many OOC teams have beaten a SEC West team this year?

No. Jameis was not on the team for the last 10 years. Neither was anyone. Obviously the sweet spot is a balance between a similar team and a big sample size. Using only this season is fine after a full season. In absence of a full season, I think its permissible to use the last season IF the team is similar and take it with a grain of salt.

Like I said, is it coincidence that the 1 undefeated team last year happens to be one of the 3 teams still undefeated this year? Probably not. Is it coincidence that a team with a decade full of 6-7 win seasons is still undefeated? More likely.

I give Mississippi State a ton of credit for upsetting a large portion of the SEC West. So much credit that I have them above every team without a 25 game win streak. But I do not believe they have risen to the top of the toughest division. I believe they are the 5th best team in the toughest division. And they are having an incredible run that Mississippi State fans should enjoy while it lasts
