There is never a good time to kick a stimulant - you just have to do it. Remind yourself that the habit itself was a self-imposed stress that you're doing something about now. The nicotine itself doesn't relieve stress - it's a stimulant, so it causes stress - the only stress it "relieves" is the stress caused by kicking the stimulant.
You started it - you can stop it - but stopping is tougher. Strength is a choice (ETA: as is weakness).
