It's about what you're actually gaining. I don't think the net gain was worth it if it doesn't result in a championship this year. And they aren't winning a championship this year. But that's just my opinion.

That's definitely the wildcard in play there. Not sure what their cap situation is like, but they'd probably retool to make a run at someone else in a couple of seasons after that, i'd guess.
