South Louisiana is guaranteed 3 of 7 seats. That's how it's been for years. The remaining 4 can come from other areas. Right now 6 of the 7 members are from South Louisiana.

This Amendment wanted to mandate that 2 of the 4 at large should be guaranteed to N. LA, leaving 2 at large spots and the original 3 from S. LA.

They wanted a guaranteed change in committee make up as you can see the deck is currently stacked with 6 of 7 coming from S. LA.

I think one seat is about right. How many people does it take to manage a bunch of fields?

I have followed it from the beginning and understand the way it is, as well as what was proposed. There is nothing in the current set up that restricts or precludes any North LA Representation for 4 of the 7 seats. I know what they wanted - I just voted no to it.
