They claimed there would be major revelations in the teaser, but of course there were none.

At he'd it. Nothing is revealed. He just says that he knows broadly how it all ends. The claim was likely just to get people to watch. And it worked in my case. Dammitt.

Are they trying to kill him? Martin doesn't need anymore cheeseburgers.

So a brief synopsis
- They talked about his first TV cameo (the burger deal was kind of an homage to that).
- He talked about how life has changed for him since the boom from the ASOIAF books and the Game of Thrones TV show. Talks about the surreal aspect of being a "celebrity writer" vs. just a successful writer.
- Talked about The World of Ice and Fire (for those who are just show folks, it's the history of Westeros and an accompaniment to the books). Talks about it being co-written by the website folks at Westeros.org.
- Talked about the "secondary universe" as a character itself. That the world itself is as important as it's characters (Tolkein-esque thought).
- Talked about how the series is rooted in real history and that's where he draws inspiration from in terms of the storylines.
- Talks about the show catching up to the books. Said it's definitely moving faster then he's writing. Said there was a certain point a couple years ago that he was concerned about it but now it just kind of is what it is. Said his obligation is to finish the books as strongly as he can and he can't speed up that process for the sake of speeding it up.
- Talks about writing the Red Wedding. Said it was incredibly difficult for him to write and he actually wrote the rest of the book and came back to it.
- Talks about knowing that Peter Dinklage was "it" for Tyrion from Day 1. Never considered anyone else.
- Talks about how hard it was to cast Arya and how Maise hit it out of the park. Same with Sansa and Bran.
- Talks for the love of the characters, even the ones that have done awful awful things.
- He does know how it all ends and what happens to most of the major characters.
ETA: Sorry, I hit enter first. And it wasn't a bad interview but there was definitely nothing remotely revealing about the show or books.
