So you want the farmers to just give money to them or give them a job? Neither will happen. They don't want the job and the farmer isn't going to hand them 100k.

I want them to see their communities as their responsibility. I want them to care about their fellow man and not just write people off for making bad choices. Even if you are a radical individualist, you are still affected by the state of your community.
I assume these guys see themselves as the smarter and more capable members of their community. So shouldn't it fall to the smartest and most capable to fix what's broken? To not just throw their hands up and say it's not their problem?

We've accepted this absurd dichotomy where you either want the government to hand these people money, housing, food, etc for doing nothing or you don't care if they starve in the street (because, hey, school is free and work is plentiful in North Dakota). But that is bull, and all it means is that whoever promises the handouts wins elections.
