I want to watch GoT only because everyone else does. My better half is just like me, though...dragons and wizards and little people magic is not our thing. I can overlook my shortcomings and try, though...it's just finding the time.
I tried watching The Brink two nights ago...I made it through 14 minutes of that show before I fell asleep.

I was the same fricking way about GOT until I tried it
There isn't a ton of mythical stuff early on. Most of the show is political type stuff IMO

I felt the same, but by the time the dragons and magic come around you're hooked.
I was actually fist-pumping the dragon appearance in 5.9
