The whole story is:
Didn't have a car after an accident. He had a RR that he had been using for his clients to drive while they were in town (He owns a geological survey company...oil and such). He had decided to go green and had a couple hybrids he was using for that purpose and the RR was just sitting there. He gave it to me. Nothing weird.

Fwiw, then I wouldn't refer to it as a "tip" from a customer.

No that's absolutely weird... people don't go around just giving cars away for free.
