Air? The aliens would have to come through the atmosphere to reach Earth from space.

Would be awesome if this was all just a result of his coworkers playing pranks on him over the years with this toy, but he really and truly believed it was an alien...to the point where they would feel bad telling him the truth so they just let him believe.
