The premise is that the companies call him for help/partnership, he arrives and does a quick assessment, makes a handshake deal and writes out a check after his assessment.

Since he hasn't done due diligence prior the handshake/check, the drama comes in when he finds out how honest these folks have been with him. Most are hiding something, some are blatantly lying to him. He'll walk away from deals and he'll sue if they doublecross him.

He has a ton of business sense and experience (or his staff does) and usually the people that he is helping are struggling with the basics.

The cupcake company episode was good. I have a feeling that he'll revisit them next season and we'll see that the husband has screwed up the shop and the wife is beating him on a regular basis.
