I would never just take someones info and leave. Always get a police report no matter how minor.

Who's got the time to wait for the officer who drew the short straw and takes nearly an hour to get there?

For a small fender bender, no police report is necessary, esp if one accepts the responsibility.

Sorry, bro. Not in Houston (Harris). I called the cops and they told me that they only come out for wrecks with injuries. Then they told me to download an accident report and fax it in.

Police reports are not available for 48 hours or so and have to be picked up later.
