Unfortunately, he has such a small body of work for him to be discussed with his contemporaries. However, what one can find is absolutely wonderful. Due to the set-up of the ABB (two rhythm/lead guitars, two drummers, keyboard/vocalist), he was allowed to step beyond the usual role of a bassist and contribute heavily to melody. The solos he had in Mountain Jam and Dreams are nothing short of smooth, melty greatness.
