I may be wrong, but I think CBS controls the time slots, not the day a team plays. I think any home team could move a game to Thursday night if they so choose without CBS' approval. I was always under the impression playing the Friday game was with LSU's permission.

But I've been wrong before...

Actually, I don't necessarily disagree with this. Despite the fact that 98% of the LSU fan base hates this Black Friday game in combination with the time slot, I think somebody in the LSU hierarchy likes this.

Agreed. A&M picked a day (Thursday) that CBS doesn't control. CBS would rather broadcast NFL that day. ESPN doesn't have a better option, so they'll play at night.

Next year, because we wanted not Thursday (Friday/Saturday, which CBS controls) we are subject to the time slot CBS picks. Iron Bowl will probably get the Saturday night spot...leaving us with Friday night or Saturday afternoon, most likely.
